Tennessee earned a 92-70 road victory at South Carolina on Tuesday night. It was a close game for the most part, but the Vols pulled away in the final stretch.

It was an eventful week for Tennessee. Their first week in 11 years as the No. 1 team in the nation was full of adversity. It appeared as if the Vols might repeat history and be upset by Vanderbilt as the nation’s top team, but they showed grit and emerged victorious.

Tennessee overcame an early deficit to defeat West Virginia, 83-66 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Vols came out flat, but managed to storm back to close out the first half, never looking back.

What a game that was! No. 1 Tennessee prevailed for the 88-83 overtime win over Vanderbilt on Wednesday. It was the historic performance of Grant Williams that protected Tennessee’s hold on the No. 1 spot in the nation.

Monday was a surreal day for Vol fans. Just after noon, the updated AP Top 25 was released and Tennessee sat at the No. 1 spot. It’s just the second time in program history that the Vols have been on top of the national rankings. The last time it happened was in 2008.

Tennessee overcame a furious comeback effort by Alabama on Saturday, winning the nail-biter 71-68. What started as a dominant showing from the Vols turned into one of their toughest tests of the season.

Tennessee dominated Arkansas on Tuesday night, winning 106-87. It’s the most points the Vols have scored all season and it marks just the second time all year that they have surpassed the 100-point mark in a game.

Tennessee moved to 3-0 in SEC play, with road wins over Missouri and Florida this week. They are 14-1 and are holding steady at No. 3 in the national rankings. The Vols remain No. 1 in our SEC Power Rankings this week.

Tennessee traveled to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators on Saturday evening. It was the Vols’ second road test of the week and they handled business accordingly.

Tennessee grinded out an 87-63 win at Missouri on Tuesday night. After a slow start, Jordan Bone and Jordan Bowden combined to score 21 of Tennessee’s 26 final points of the first half.

Tennessee trounced Georgia by a score of 96-50 on Saturday. It was a complete domination, one that even Vol fans didn’t see coming. SEC play couldn’t have gotten off to a better start for the Vols, as the 46-point win is Tennessee’s second-largest margin of victory in an SEC game, all-time.
